How to contact support:

Log in to your account at wpcustomthemes.com.
Open the Support section and submit a ticket, selecting Blaq as the product.
Describe your issue in as much detail as you can.

What to include in your request (this helps us resolve your issue faster):

Response times: Support requests are typically answered within 24 hours on business days. On weekends or holidays, responses may take longer, but we will assist you as soon as possible. Feel free to reach out with any questions or issues — we’re always ready to help!

Scope of support: We provide support for theme installation, setup, configuration, bugs, and questions about built-in features. Customization of third-party plugins and bespoke code changes fall outside standard support, though we’re happy to point you in the right direction.

Installation

Follow these steps to download and install Blaq from your WP Custom Themes account:

Log in to your account at wpcustomthemes.com.
Navigate to the Downloads section. You will see the Blaq theme — click on Download to get a compressed blaq.zip theme file on your computer.
Log in to the WordPress admin panel of your site.
Go to Appearance > Themes and click on the Add New button at the top of the screen.
In the Add Themes screen, click on Upload Theme.
Click on Choose File, and then browse for the compressed blaq.zip theme file on your computer.
Click on Install Now to start the installation.
After the installation is done, click on the Activate button.

Note: Upload the zip file as-is — do not extract it first. If your browser automatically unzips downloads (common in Safari on macOS), re-compress the blaq folder before uploading, or disable automatic unzipping in your browser settings.

After activation, visit Appearance → Explore Blaq for a quick overview of the theme and helpful links.

Alternative: Installation via FTP

Extract blaq.zip on your computer.
Upload the extracted blaq folder to /wp-content/themes/ on your server using FTP or your hosting file manager.
Go to Appearance > Themes in your WordPress admin and click Activate on Blaq.

Updating Your Theme

To receive notifications for new versions and streamline the update process, we recommend staying current with the latest theme features and security improvements through your account dashboard:

Log in to your account at wpcustomthemes.com and go to the Downloads section.
Download the latest version of Blaq.
In your WordPress admin, go to Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme, upload the new zip, and choose Replace active with uploaded when prompted.

Because Blaq is a block theme, your Site Editor customizations are stored in the database and are preserved through updates — no child theme is required (see “Child Theme Information” below).

Setup & Configuration

Demo Content Import

Follow these simple steps to recreate the Blaq demo layout.

Go to Appearance → Demo Import in your WP Admin dashboard.
Install WooCommerce — If you want to use the demo products, install and activate WooCommerce before importing.
Download the demo content file — Click the Download XML File button and save the file to your computer. You’ll upload it in step 5.
Install the WordPress Importer plugin — Click the Install Plugin button. This official WordPress plugin handles the import safely. You can delete it after the import is complete.
Import the demo content — Click Go to WordPress Importer, upload the XML file from step 3, and make sure to check “Download and import file attachments” to get all images.

Child Theme Information

A child theme is not required for Blaq as it is a block theme.

Block themes store customizations in the database rather than in theme files, so your customizations are preserved when the theme updates. All template modifications made through the Site Editor are automatically protected from theme updates.

Using the WordPress Block Editor

Blaq is a block-based theme designed to work seamlessly with the WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg). It offers a smooth, intuitive experience without third-party page builders, and it uses only core WordPress and WooCommerce blocks — no extra block plugins are required.

Accessing the Site Editor

The Site Editor is your main tool for customizing Blaq:

From the Admin Bar: While viewing any page on your site, click Edit Site.
From the Dashboard: Navigate to Appearance → Editor.
Direct access: Go to Appearance → Editor → Templates and select the template you want to edit.

To return to the dashboard, click the WordPress logo in the top-left corner of the Site Editor, or visit yoursite.com/wp-admin/ directly.

Homepage Configuration

Blaq includes a dedicated front-page.html block template that automatically displays as your site’s homepage. No configuration in Settings → Reading is required.

To customize your homepage:

Go to Appearance → Editor (Site Editor).
Open Templates → Front Page.
Edit the layout and content using the block editor — the homepage is built entirely from Blaq patterns (hero, featured categories, featured products, and marketing sections), so every section can be edited, reordered, or removed.
Click Save.

Blog Page Setup

If you want a separate page to display your blog posts, you have two options:

Option 1: Use the Blog Page Template (Recommended)

Go to Pages → Add New and name your page Blog (or any title you prefer).
In the Page Settings sidebar, open the Template dropdown and select Blog Page.
Click Publish.

Option 2: Assign a Blog Page Using Reading Settings

Go to Settings → Reading.
Under Your homepage displays, select A static page.
Leave the Homepage field blank (the theme’s front-page.html handles this automatically).
From the Posts page dropdown, choose your Blog page and click Save Changes.

Notes: The Front Page template takes priority for your homepage. The Posts Page will use the first matching template: home.html, index.html, or a custom page template if assigned.

Site Logo Setup

Open the Site Editor (Edit Site in the admin bar, or Appearance → Editor).
Find the Site Logo block in the header area.
Click it to upload a logo or select one from your media library.
Click Save to apply the change across your site.

Navigation Setup

In the Site Editor, locate the Navigation block in the header.
Click Create a new menu.
Add menu items with the + icon — pages, posts, categories, or custom URLs. Multi-level dropdown menus and a responsive mobile menu are supported.
Click Save.

Editing the Header & Footer

Template parts are reusable components edited once and applied everywhere. Access them at Appearance → Editor → Template Parts (listed under Patterns in newer WordPress versions).

Header — Includes a top info bar, logo, navigation, product search, account icon, and mini cart. Each element can be edited or removed. Select the header part, make your changes, and click Save to apply site-wide.

Footer — Includes navigation, contact information, and payment method icons. The theme also ships a Footer With Widgets pattern as an alternative multi-column layout you can swap in.

Assigning a Page Template

Blaq includes assignable page templates: Page No Title, Blank, Blog Page, Front Page, and 404.

Tip: When building a page from full-page patterns, select the Page No Title template to avoid a duplicate title above your content.

To assign a template: edit the page, open the Template dropdown in the Page Settings sidebar, choose the template, and click Update.

WooCommerce Store Setup

Blaq is built for WooCommerce and includes complete block templates for the full purchase flow.

Shop / Product Catalog

Navigate to Appearance → Editor → Templates → Product Catalog.
Customize the product grid, sorting options, and results count.
Filter sidebar: The shop page includes a Filter button that opens a slide-out sidebar with price, attribute, rating, and category filters. Customize its contents via the Sidebar Products template part.
Click Save.

Single Product Pages

Navigate to Appearance → Editor → Templates → Single Product.
Customize the product gallery, breadcrumbs, price, add-to-cart form, product details tabs, and description.
Size Guide: Product pages include a Size Guide popup pattern — edit the measurements to match your products, or remove it entirely.
Related products sections are powered by the Product Collection block and can be adjusted or removed.
Click Save to apply to all product pages.

Product Category Pages

Navigate to Appearance → Editor → Templates → Products by Category to customize how products display within categories, including the category header.

Cart, Checkout & Order Pages

Each of the following has its own editable block template under Appearance → Editor → Templates:

Checkout — Distraction-free billing, shipping, and payment forms

Using patterns: Insert a pattern, replace the placeholder text and images with your own content, adjust colors and spacing to match your brand, and preview on mobile before publishing.

Custom Block Styles

Blaq registers block styles selectable in the block settings panel under Styles:

No Padding (Group) — edge-to-edge sections
Gap Zero (Columns) — removes column gaps
Plain (Button) — minimal text-style button
Custom Cart (WooCommerce Mini Cart) — theme-styled cart icon
Custom Account (WooCommerce Customer Account) — theme-styled account icon

Global Styles (Colors, Typography, Layout)

Open the Site Editor and click the Styles button (circle icon) at the top-right.

Colors — Blaq ships a curated monochrome palette (white backgrounds, near-black text and buttons, soft grey borders) plus accent colors (soft terracotta, pastel green, yellow, red) for highlights and status states. Every color can be overridden.

Typography — Adjust font families, sizes, line height, and letter spacing for headings and body text.

Layout — Adjust content width and spacing.

Troubleshooting

The demo import fails or times out

Confirm the WordPress Importer plugin is installed and active.
Ask your host to raise max_execution_time and memory_limit — image downloads can take several minutes.
Re-run the import; already-imported items are skipped.
If images are missing, re-import with “Download and import file attachments” checked.

My homepage doesn’t show the demo layout

The Front Page template displays automatically. If another page appears, check Settings → Reading: if “A static page” is selected with a Homepage assigned, that page’s template is used instead. Clear the Homepage field to let front-page.html take over.

The shop Filter button or size guide popup doesn’t open

These features rely on the theme’s JavaScript. Clear any caching/optimization plugin caches and exclude assets/js/custom.js from JS deferral or minification, then retest. Also test with plugins temporarily disabled to rule out a conflict.

A template shows “Modified” and I want the original back

Go to Appearance → Editor → Templates, click the ⋮ (options) menu next to the template, and choose Reset (labelled “Clear customizations” in some WordPress versions). This restores the template as shipped with the theme.

Shop/cart/checkout templates don’t appear

WooCommerce templates only load when the WooCommerce plugin is active. Install and activate WooCommerce, then reload the Site Editor.

Text appears in English on a non-English site

Blaq is translation-ready and includes a blaq.pot file in the languages folder. Create translations with a tool such as Loco Translate or Poedit, saving them as blaq-{locale}.po/.mo.

Something else?

Run a standard conflict test: switch briefly to a default theme (e.g., Twenty Twenty-Four) and disable non-WooCommerce plugins to isolate the cause. If the issue only occurs with Blaq active, contact support with your findings and System Status Report — see Getting Support above.

FAQ

Does Blaq require any plugins?

Blaq works out of the box as a standard WordPress block theme. To use the shop features you’ll need the free WooCommerce plugin (7.0 or higher). No page builders or block plugins are required.

Does Blaq include custom blocks?

No. Blaq uses only core WordPress and WooCommerce blocks, which keeps your site fast and your content fully portable if you ever switch themes.

Do I need a child theme?

No. Site Editor customizations are stored in the database and preserved through updates.

Do I need to install fonts manually?

No. Pretendard Std is bundled and loads automatically.

Can I use Blaq without WooCommerce?

Yes. Blaq works as a regular blog or business theme; the shop templates simply remain unused until WooCommerce is activated.

Is Blaq translation-ready?

Yes. The theme includes a .pot file and loads translations from its languages folder.

How do I add custom CSS?

Use Styles → Additional CSS in the Site Editor, or add per-block CSS classes and target them from Additional CSS.
